We all get off to a great start when you’re as positive and enthusiastic about our classes as we are. After all, we want your child to be excited about their new cricketing adventure!
So to put your mind at rest before your first lesson, we’ve put together a list of faqs we’re frequently asked. And if your question isn’t answered here, please just let us know and we’ll add it to the list.
How many children in a Cricket tots class?
This varies according to the venue size and the ages and abilities of the children. In some classes we have a maximum of 8 children. Our largest class has a maximum of 12 children.
How long does the class last?
Each Cricket tots class lasts for 40 minutes. Please arrive on time, with your toddler or pre-schooler dressed ready to join in to make the most of their time with us.
What should my child wear for their Cricket tots class?
Your child will need to wear trainers, comfortable trousers or tracksuit pants, and their Cricket tots t- shirt (children can get quite hot during classes!). On cooler days, we recommend a jumper to put on afterwards.
Where are the classes held?
Our kids’ cricket classes in the UK are held at indoor venues such as sports centres, village halls, schools, academies and private clubs (so rain will never stop play!). Classes in Barbados are all held at outside venues.
How will I know where to go at my first class?
At your very first Cricket tots class, we’ll be at the entrance to your venue to meet you. We’ll show you where to go, how things work and where the nearest toilets are.
What happens in a Cricket tots class?
The coaches first collect the children together. Then, whilst taking the register, they’ll usually show them both an adult-sized and child-sized version of a piece of equipment. Naming and correct terminology is used from the very first class, so please do expect your child to return to you keen to share that knowledge each week!
Classes then progress through a number of skills, drills and paced activities.
Towards the end of the class, there’ll be a parachute activity, which parents are asked to join in with. This brings everyone together and ends the class on a high note.
Do I need to stay with my child for the full class?
Yes please! Cricket tots is a great way for your toddler or pre-schooler to develop independence within a safe, nurturing environment. But even the most seasoned of attendees can become nervous at different points and need to return to you for a cuddle before re-joining the class.
Will I need to join in?
Not in the main bulk of activities, but towards the end of each class, we usually do a group activity where you’ll be encouraged to join in.
We’ll also ask you to join in and celebrate the achievements within your child’s class.
What if my child doesn’t like the class, or doesn’t want to join in?
We recognise that every child is different, so we’re happy to be led by you as the parent, grandparent or carer. If your little one is unsettled and you’re happy to help them re-join the class and take part with them, that’s fine with us. Likewise, if you feel it’s best for your toddler or pre-schooler to stay with the coach, that’s fine as well. Our small ratios of coach to child make it easy for us to give extra attention and support to whichever child needs it.
How much time is there in between each class?
We generally have 5 minutes between one class ending and another one starting. By keeping the time between classes short, we can welcome more children to Cricket tots and keep the costs down.
Which is why it helps everybody if you can arrive on time and be ready to join in when your class starts, and leave promptly after your class has ended.
My child has a disability, can they still join Cricket tots?
Yes of course! Throughout our many years of working with thousands of small children, we’ve been happy to welcome children of all abilities. We can adapt everything we do to ensure inclusivity, but if you’d like to talk to us before booking on, please call your local office or email us at enquiries@crickettots.com
Can we pay weekly, or do we need to pay for the term in advance?
Payment is made termly, before the term begins. Full payment must be made to secure your place with Cricket tots.
What’s included in my Cricket tots membership pack?
When you first sign up to classes with us, your child will receive a membership pack that includes a Cricket tops t-shirt, water bottle and cotton tote bag. We feel it’s important that every child feels like they’re part of a real team, so ask that they always wear their Cricket tots t-shirt to each class.
What happens if a class is cancelled?
On the very rare occasion that the class needs to be cancelled, you’ll be given as much notice as possible. Full details are provided within our terms and conditions.
If your question isn’t answered here, please just get in touch.
Do you accept Little Starts gift cards?
Yes, we do! Just email your local office to let them know that’s what you’d like to do, and they’ll take care of the rest.
